# Vaultite: own your memories

A note taker built for you and your agents. Local, private, free, open source (Apache 2.0) and AI native, for Mac, Linux and the web.

## One memory for every AI you use

Your vault is a folder of plain Markdown files on your computer. Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Hermes and OpenClaw on your computer, and ChatGPT, Claude, Muse and Grok Bot on the web and your phone, all read and write the same files, so what you tell one, the others know. Open the vault in another Markdown app, grep it, sync it with iCloud or keep it in git.

## No AI acts until you ask

Opening a vault just opens your Markdown files. No LLM runs and nothing gets rewritten unless you do it. Bring your own agents and harnesses, on your own subscriptions.

Every note says who wrote it: Human (you), AI (an agent), Mixed (you and an agent) or Reviewed (you checked an agent's note). They are Markdown properties, and you can use your own labels.

## Private by default

Your notes are files on your computer, and they stay there. No account, no telemetry, no ads, and nothing to opt out of.

- No account: download it and open a folder.
- No telemetry: errors stay on your computer.
- Closed to the internet: until you connect an AI app.
- Check it yourself: every line is [on GitHub](https://github.com/Vaultite/vaultite). What the app sends and keeps: [privacy](https://vaultite.com/privacy).

## Your personal wiki, written with your agents

Agents write in a note with you: their cursors, comments in the margin and suggestions you accept or reject.

## From anywhere

Ask ChatGPT, Claude, Muse or Grok Bot on your phone. It writes to your vault through Vaultite's connector, generative UI and all. Connect them in the app under Settings, Connections.

## Everything is a plugin

Even the file tree. Remove what you don't need: graph, Kanban, Tasks, Dataview, Excalidraw, Calendar, Canvas, Periodic notes, Templater, Slides, Health, People and more. Compatible with most Obsidian plugins, or ask your agent to write your own. [The plugin directory](https://vaultite.com/plugins).

## Coming from Obsidian

Your Obsidian vault opens as it is, and Vaultite never writes to `.obsidian/`. [What carries over](https://vaultite.com/obsidian.md).

## Bundles

A bundle is a setup of plugins you can share as a link: Standard (notes and links: search, backlinks, the graph, an inbox), Zen (only what you're working on) and Browser (your favourite pages over vertical tabs, spaces, and your notes about the page you're on), with more in the directory, like Life OS (your days, people and health, logged by your AI). ## For agents

- Connect: `claude mcp add vaultite -- vau mcp` (Codex and OpenCode take the same arguments). `vau` comes with the app.
- Skills: `npx skills add Vaultite/vaultite`, also listed at https://vaultite.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json.
- In a vault, read `.vaultite/AGENTS.md` first.
