Bring your Obsidian vault

Vaultite is a free, open source alternative to Obsidian, built for you and your AI agents. Point it at your Obsidian vault and it opens as it is: same files, same links, most of the same plugins. It never writes to .obsidian/, so both apps can share the folder while you try it.

What carries over

Your plugins

When the vault opens, Vaultite offers its plugins once. Each one either runs as it is, the original code, or is replaced by the Vaultite plugin that stands in for it: Dataview, Tasks, Kanban, Templater, Excalidraw, Periodic notes, QuickAdd and more. Never both: turning one on turns the other off. Most Obsidian plugins work, and when one doesn't, you or your agent can write one in the vault.

AI only when you ask

Opening a vault just opens your Markdown files. No model runs and nothing is rewritten until you or an agent you connected does it, on your own subscriptions. What an agent writes is labelled as such, so you always know which notes are yours.

What doesn't carry over

Only your workspace layout, hotkeys and accent colour: set those in Vaultite's Settings.

Try it on your vault

Download Vaultite for Mac or Linux, choose Open folder and pick your Obsidian vault. Or try the web demo on a made-up vault first. Questions: Discord or GitHub.
